Sharp now puts on sale the Sharp PW-TC930 featuring a 4.3 inch monitor (480×272), e-dictionary, filled with music samples and other audio oddities such as insect noises (yeah that’s right), JPG and MP3 player. Sadly enough it won’t accept SD cards over 1GB which we can understand…

“Volitan” is a new concept sail-vessel that consumes no fuel, instead uses alternative energies. Her name comes from “flying fish” and she is a new symbol of raising awareness about sustainable use of resources on the sea. IDA 2007 Boat/Neutical Sub-category 1st design award winner with also Transportation Category 1st Design award winner.

The Volitan’s  systems are controlled and optimized by a networked computer. Whilst sailing, wind and solar energy are harnessed and stored in the boat’s batteries, enough to stay operational thru day and night.In extreme weather conditions, they fold up against the boat but have no fear because the Volitan is engineered to operate in up to 60 knot winds.

Nick Foley, a New York industrial design student, has added another artistic light fixture to his portfolio.His latest design is an artistic hand-forged hollow steel tree that serves as the charging station for three urethane pear-shaped lights. He states, “Each pear contains ten ultra bright white LEDs, an autonomous charging circuit, and rare-earth magnets that allow it to be ‘picked’ from the tree and remain fully illuminated for over an hour.”

This is the fastest elevator in the world.That’s because It shoots people up from the 5th floor to the 89th floor in a mere 37 seconds.That’s too fast.

It uses fancy-pants triple-stage anti-overshooting systems and high-tech emergency break systems to keep it safe, but that won’t make your stomach drop any faster once it starts off on its rocket flight. I’d say taking the stairs is a better idea, but walking up 84 flights of stairs isn’t anything I’d wish on anybody.

Be careful when you get a chance to visit the Taipei 101 building.
