Barack Obama Tech Policy

Ah, the election season; some like it more than football season. I wouldn’t go that far seeing as Brett Favre news received more coverage than Obama and McCain during the Packers/Favre drama. Anyway, here at Tech Dune the most important thing on my/your mind when reading is ‘technology’. So, I figured it would be a good idea to take a look at the different presidential nominees and find out just where they stand on issues of technology, and so forth.

To keep it fair and unbiased I will be featuring Barack Obama today, and John McCain tomorrow. Save the “he got featured first” non-sense for the 1st graders.

    Pijoo prettier than MyBlogLog

Pijoo allows you to build a community based on your blog visitors. The new service enables you to share your blog with the world and meet like-minded people/bloggers/readers.
You can signup for free, add your blog information, quickly create the widgets, and embed it in your blog.

In order to view your blog stats, including page views, readers and votes, you have to become a sponsor. BUT - You are the one that get to choose the sponsor amount (minimum $30), and it is only one time payment. According to Pijoo, you will not be asked to make any further payments.

You can also install the Pijoo plug-in for Firefox and discover new blogs from the Pijoo Network.

  • PayPerPost will be launching a new social network in January 2008 called SocialSpark. The company says about 85,000 bloggers and 11,000 advertisers will create profiles. Users visiting the site will then “browse the public profiles of advertisers and bloggers along with their associated sponsorship and blog related data.”

SocialSpark also promises to have an open API, so as to allow “information to flow into and out of the system”, and will offer support for Google’s OpenSocial.

Analytics tools installed on a blogger’s blog allow SocialSpark to provide traffic data on the blog’s public profile. Advertisers are provided with a complete picture of a blog’s influence including visits and page views, along with other demographic information such as aggregate gender, age, location, interest and other visitor information. That data allows advertisers to build their street teams based on the audience of the blogger. Once a campaign is launched, advertisers can monitor CPC and CPM as well as gauge brand awareness and campaign impact across the blogosphere.
