We all know that any changes to the Registry or any system folders will not take effect until you either restart Windows, or refresh the desktop. But, restarting can be time consuming. If are busy with some other work you will have to close or save the work. So, here is a tip to refresh the desktop without restarting Windows XP. There are 3 ways to get this done.

  • Now the wait is over for those who were waiting to make free calls to their loved ones within in USA and Cananda. Bok is a callback free calling system which will let you make free calls to USA and Canada. The downside, it will only work in USA and canada. However people in canada can call anyone in USA for free and vice versa.
    Bok is actually a SMS callback system. You need to send a SMS with a number to BoK system and then it calls you back and connects your call.

    1 . Lower Screen Brightness

    Most notebooks come with the facility to lower the screen brightness . Some even have the ability CPU and cooling performance . Keep them to the lowest level and it can pump up some extra battery juice .

    2 . Close Inactive Programs in the Background

    All inactive applications which you are not using put some load on the CPU and decrease your battery life . Close any programs that are not important to you, when you are working on the battery .

    3 . De-Fragmentation

    Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly . The faster the hard-drive works, lesser the load it puts on your battery . How to Defrag ?

    4 . More RAM

    If you do need to run memory intensive programs which actually require heavy usage of virtual memory,. it is better to use more RAM. Virtual memory uses the hard disk a lot more, and will consume more energy .
