In the US we’re ahead of the curve on a few things on the technology front, and if we’re not then we simply buy the best that’s out there. When it comes to connection speeds, you can’t help but look around and see we’re terribly far behind. Case in point, there’s a research firm in Europe working on broadband technology that could deliver up to 12.5 Gb/s connection speeds.
For those with a little less technical know-how. Imagine being able to download a HD movie, that’s full length, in a single second. Hell, even images can take 2-3 seconds to download. With the speeds this firm is researching, the broadband market could change forever.
The technology is called, millimetre (mm)-wave’ or microwave photonics which along with broadband connections could have a slew of different applications. IPHOBAC is the organization behind the research, and combines the academic minds along with the commercial sector. The technology utilizes the high end of the radio spectrum (30 to 300 gigahertz), and for the most part has gone largely untapped until now.
The applications that this technology could affect include, astronomy, space system technology, home entertainment broadcasting, home networking, and so on.

If you’d like to help out in your own way, you can take the IPHOBAC survey. The data is collected and used for research purposes within the project.

Some people have these things called “guilty pleasures”. I don’t really believe in that saying, I’m proud of all of my pleasures. One of those being the Hello Kitty franchise. She’s just so darn cute; how anyone can pass up the merchandise is beyond me.
In my bedroom everything matches. My Hello Kitty bedspread, my Hello Kitty wallpaper, and Hello Kitty pillow case all match perfectly. My freaking 20″ pitch black Pioneer television is the only thing throwing the room out of sync. Luckily, Uniden is to the rescue as they are releasing the Hello Kitty LCD TV.
The television isn’t out just yet, but will have a shipping date somewhere in mid-July. The television will be a 19″ screen (perfect size for my bedroom). The price tag is a little steep for a television this size ($650), but being Hello Kitty it will all be worth it.

I’ve always thought the “F” key was in a fairly odd spot. It’s where the starting position of your finger should be, when you start typing. But really, who uses the “F” anymore than the others. And who was the person that decided what the layout of the keyboard should be? I know that nobody contacted me when it was decided upon. X-treme Geek looks to be coming to my rescue, as a customizable keyboard is available from their site.
The Optimus Maximus OLED Keyboard, is a fully customizable accessory. All of the keys that are represented are shown using an OLED display. These displays can be changed to match any other key, or shortcut. You want to open “Hello Kitty: Island Adventure” as fast as possible? Well then you can set a key on the Optimus Maximus to execute that shortcut. The ideas are limitless, and the fact the keyboard shares a lot of its’ name with my favorite Transformer is the cherry on top… Oh yea, it’s only $1,589.00.

One thing I was always envious of Batman, was all the computer screens he had in his cave. The man had a screen for nearly every single facet of his crime fighting. 9X has released some products, that can help me realize my dream of having 3 or more screens on my setup. 9X’s display systems, look as though they took inspiration straight from Batman. They have systems ranging from a dual monitor setup, all the way up to a 30 screen setup. What might deter you from a purchase is the price. Just for a dual screen setup, you’re looking at a nearly $4,000 purchase. But if you’re really in that bad of need for it, you can make your purchase, here.
