Google Hosting Old Newspapers

Ok, so their big TechCrunch announcement wasn’t Google Chrome related, or a real killer app. Instead we got a pretty cool Google feature, that will never be used. Yet, people will be able to point and say “Look at the cool app Google was able to pull off”

I will hand it to Google, their new project is pretty neat and ambitious. I’m just wondering how many people really need to look up old magazine, and newspaper articles. Google has partnered with many publishing companies around the world. Through their effort, Google will be able to post over a million news articles, photos, headlines, and advertisements.

  • Google’s Announcement Today

Today marks the first day of TechCrunch’s big conference TechCrunch50. This is an event where TechCrunch features many different technology companies, all presenting throughout the week.

One of the bigger companies making a statement today is Google. They have a 15 minute slot, in which they will make some kind of announcement. No one knows at the time what it could be. I’m hoping it’s something about plug-ins, or add-ons for Google Chrome but I don’t think we’ll be that lucky. My bet is that it’s something about Android.

As soon as the news hits, Tech Dune will be posting it.

A pretty funny, short, and more than likely fake YouTube video of Google Chrome making a spell check error for Obama.

  • Google Puting Chrome On Android

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always assumed Androids were chrome (underneath the human exterior). Well it appears that Google’s Android will be getting another polish of Chrome when the mobile OS launches later this month. The HTC Dream is slated to release sometime this year, so Google Android doesn’t have too long before launch.

Common sense would dictate that Google would want to put its new browser ,Chrome, as the standard browser on the Android powered phones.

In case you were still questioning this fact, Sergey Brin co-founder of Google had this to say to Cnet about the marriage, “We have not wanted to bind one’s hands to the other’s…Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack…My guess is we’ll have ‘Chrome-like’ or something similar”
