Social Networking has gotten so big it’s beginning to influence the video game world. That’s quite a feat considering how much money video games bring in already. But combining the two forces will more than likely set off a chain of events which will open up a black hole (take that Large Hadron Collider).

In all seriousness, Playstation Home looks pretty sweet and will come with some features that might even get this ‘non-social networking’ boob into the foray. You’ll have your Home Square which is your central hub for getting around to various places. Your apartment which will be entirely customizable **thinking of how to make a Seinfeld apartment clone**. There will be a theater to view videos and trailers. A room for Playstation Home games. And the coup de grace, a room for playing Namco games like Galaga, Dig Dug etc…

It’s kind of sad when your online house could eat your real one

Sony has announced that they will be starting their beta phase today, sending out invites to 10,000 lucky PS3 owners (crosses fingers).  The invites will be sent until August 11th. Then sometime in late August the Playstation Home Beta will be underway.

Guitar Hero Air

Guitar Hero has pretty much been the hottest game out since its release. It’s been so hot that it spawned the release of a game called Rock Band, that added a few more instruments. Now a company called Red 5, has actually taken the series backward with their release of Guitar Hero Air…enjoy (at their expense)

  • Nintendo is sitting on a huge mountain of success at the moment (which is just a huge mound of cash). Things weren’t always so peachy with Nintendo. There have been a numerous amount of failures through the years at Mario’s company. Easily Nintendo’s best failure was the Power Glove. This device was pretty much the Wii remote only about 20 years before its’ time.

The problem with the Power Glove was the clunkiness of the controls, and lack of game support. If you think having a thin sensor bar for your Nintendo Wii is bad enough, the Power Glove had to have two sensors on your TV that would continually fall off. Of course the idea of the Power Glove was mind blowing though. You could control a video game just by moving your hand. You only had to wear a glove that nearly went up to your elbow, and had about 50 million buttons to keep track of.

What really made the Power Glove truly great was the 1980’s movie classic, The Wizard…a.k.a ‘feature length Nintendo Ad’.

  • It’s hard to imagine what the next big jump for video game technology could be. With the increased graphical quality of the PS3 and Xbox 360, and motion controls of the Wii, the next advancement will have to be down right impressive. Mind control is an idea that could definitely give the boost video games need.

T3 has come up with what the Wii 2.0 could potentially offer for gamers. Instead of having to utilize a clunky controller, the game could read your thoughts and perform the actions on screen. If your scatter brained like me, then the idea might seem backwards. Because even when I play video games, my mind can wonder to all sorts of things.

I’m not sure what’s more amazing, the idea that T3 came up with, or the time they took to actually create some concept photos behind the idea.
