A giant £1 coin has been put up alongside the Thames as part of a £50 million lottery-funded project contest. The giant wooden structure, which weighs in at 12 tons, is seven metres high and 70cm deep – large enough to fit inside it all the 50 million pound coins being given in the vote.f you live in the UK, make sure you vote.

Researchers in Japan have developed software that allows a life-size humanoid robot to stay on its feet no matter where on its body it is pushed. Theirs is the first full-size humanoid to show such steadiness.
