Nintendo is sitting on a huge mountain of success at the moment (which is just a huge mound of cash). Things weren’t always so peachy with Nintendo. There have been a numerous amount of failures through the years at Mario’s company. Easily Nintendo’s best failure was the Power Glove. This device was pretty much the Wii remote only about 20 years before its’ time.
The problem with the Power Glove was the clunkiness of the controls, and lack of game support. If you think having a thin sensor bar for your Nintendo Wii is bad enough, the Power Glove had to have two sensors on your TV that would continually fall off. Of course the idea of the Power Glove was mind blowing though. You could control a video game just by moving your hand. You only had to wear a glove that nearly went up to your elbow, and had about 50 million buttons to keep track of.
What really made the Power Glove truly great was the 1980’s movie classic, The Wizard…a.k.a ‘feature length Nintendo Ad’.
